The Society for Preservation of Israel Heritage Sites (SPIHS) – was an integral part of the restoration and preservation of the workers camp from the beginning many decades ago and as such was a significant part of the steering committee for establishing the Visitors Center. The Society for Preservation of Israel Heritage Sites also invested millions of shekels in restoring the site, including reconstruction of the old dining room, the administration hut (mud hut) and the security house as well as in restoring the train engines, the carriages and the tracks that served the factories during the 30’s and 40’s of the previous century.
The Tamar Regional Council accompanied the restoration process of the camp and establishment of the Visitors Center, supported and assisted in promoting the plan, the permits and the intersection and was a driving force in promoting the project.
